Brittany Murphy was born on November 10, 1977 in Atlanta Georgia. She began her career appearing on TV commercials at age 2. After a successful run playing the lead role in a regional production of “Really Rosie” in 1986, the then-13-year-old Brittany Murphy and her mom moved to Los Angeles. There, she landed her first Hollywood job in the TV series “Drexell’s Class,” which was followed by several TV stints in “The Torkelsons,” “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose,” “Frasier,” and “Blossom,” before landing on recurring roles in “Boy Meets World,” “Sister, Sister,” and “Party of Five.”
Brittany Murphy made her movie debut in 1993 with the feature “Family Prayers,” but her breakthrough role came in 1995 on the movie “Clueless” opposite Alicia Silverstone. From then on, Brittany Murphy warmed the hearts on comedies like “Drop Dead Gorgeous,” “Little Black Book,” “Uptown Girls,” “Sidewalks of New York,” “Just Married,” “Stupid Man” and “Summer Catch,” among others. Brittan also worked on serious films such as “Cherry Falls,” “Riding in Cars with Boys,” “Don’t Say a Word,” “The Dead Girl” and “The Ramen Girl.”
Of all the projects Brittany Murphy has performed, she will probably be remembered for her performance as the suicidal teen in “Girl, Interrupted,” the lesbian in the Showtime TV-movie “Common Ground,” her portrayal of Lisa in Oprah’s production of “David and Lisa,” the Eminem movie “8 Mile,” her role as the amphetamine-addled girl in “Spun” and her work as Shellie in the movie adaptation of “Sin City.” Brittany Murphy also proved her acting chops in the critically-acclaimed Broadway revival of “A View From the Bridge” in 1997.
In the 1990s, Brittany Murphy became part of a singing group called ‘Blessed with Soul.’ When she worked in Hollywood, Brittany used her singing talent in portraying animated characters in both small and big screens. Since 1997, she has been playing the role of Luanne Platter on the animated series “King of the Hill,” which even led to an Annie Award for her work on the episode ‘Movin’ On Up.’ She also provided the voice of ‘Gloria’ in the 2006 movie “Happy Feet.”
Her last projects, which Brittany Murphy had completed before she died of cardiac arrest on December 20, 2009, were “Deadline,” “Across the Hall,” “Abandoned” and “The Expendables.”
Brittany Murphy dated Ashton Kutcher, Jeff Kwatinetz and Joe Macaluso, before marrying British screenwriter Simon Monjack in May 2007.
